Kroz srpsku istoriju, ono što nije zapisano, živi u narodnom predanju. Istina, nekada, uprkos istorijskim činjenicama, predanje dopušta širinu i na drugačiji je vrjednosni način urezano u narodno pamćenje.
Tako je sa crkvom Svetog Arhangela Mihaila u Trnovom Dolu kod Bileće, gdje je, prema predanju, vojvoda Vlatko Vuković pričestio vojsku pred odlazak u Kosovski boj.
Nema zapisa o tom događaju, o odluci kralja Tvrtka, nema ni čvrstih podataka o periodu gradnje same crkve. Činjenica je da, kao brojni sakralni objekti, seže u srednji vijek, da je bila dugo zapustjela i zapuštana. Prije nekoliko godina počela je njena obnova.
