Jedan od najboljih sportista Srbije u 21. vijeku, proslavljeni vaterpolista Filip Filipović najavio je da će na kraju ove sezone završiti igračku karijeru.
Filipović, koji igra za Vaterpolo klub "Novi Beograd", rekao je da je još prošle godine bio spreman da ode u penziju, ali ne na način na koji se završila sezona u Grčkoj.
- Možda mi je suđeno bilo da se desi onako kako je i počelo. U svojoj zemlji, kod svoje kuće. Žao mi što se to nije desilo možda u `Partizanu`, ali definitivno je `poslednji ples` što se klupske karijere tiče - rekao je Filipović u podkastu "Alesto".
Jedan od najboljih vaterpolista svih vremena nastupao je za "Partizan", "Pro Reko", "Radnički", "Solnok" i "Olimpijakos", a tokom reprezentativne karijere osvojio je 35 medalja.
Reprezentativnu karijeru započeo je sa 16 godina, a od 2003. do 2021. godine odigrao je ukupno 381 utakmicu i postigao 677 golova.
Drostruki je uzastopni olimpijski šampion.
Od reprezentacije Srbije se oprostio u ljeto 2021. godine, poslije finala Olimpijskih igara u Tokiju, zajedno sa članovima zlatne generacije srpskog vaterpola Stefanom Mitrovićem, Andrijom Prlainovićem, Milanom Aleksićem, Duškom i Gojkom Pijetlovićem.
