Upravni odbor Vaterpolo saveza Srbije (VSS) usvojio je prijedlog Stručnog savjeta i na sjednici za selektora muške seniorske reprezentacije imenovao je Uroša Stevanovića, aktuelnog trenera Radničkog.
Uroš Stevanović je na mjestu selektora Srbije zamjenio Dejana Savića, koji je prvog oktobra podnio neočekivanu ostavku na ovu funkciju.
Stevanović će biti treći selektor srpske reprezentacije. Prije njega funkciju su obavljali Dejan Udovičić (2006-2012) i Dejan Savić (2012-2022).
Uroš Stevanović je prije nego što je preuzeo Radnički 2013. samosalno vodio Partizan sa kojim ima titulu Super kupa. Sa Radničkim je igrao finale Lige šampiona, osvojio je dva nacionalna kupa, jednu titulu domaće lige i jednu titulu regionalne lige savladavši Jug i Mladost na fajnal foru u Zagrebu.
Radio je i u stručnom štabu Kazahstana sa kojim je osvojio zlato na prvenstvu Azije, a izuzetne rezultate ostvario je sa mlađim reprezentativnim kategorijama. Na četiri takmičenja je od 2019. osvojio dve zlatne i dve srebrne medalje.
Selektor je potpisao ugovor sa reprezentacijom zaključno sa Olimpijskim igrama u Parizu 2024. sa mogućnošću produženja.
