Na današnji dan, 19. marta 1999, američki predsjednik Bil Klinton, gotovo je najavio bombardovanje Savezne Republike Jugoslavije, koje će uslijediti pet dana kasnije, 24. marta 1999. godine.
„Nakon neuspelih pregovora“ Srba i kosovskih Albanaca u Parizu, predsjednik SAD Bil Klinton izjavio je da je „prag prekoračen“ i da problem Kosova ugrožava državne interese SAD-a.
Diplomate zapadnih zemalja počele su da napuštaju Beograd, a međunarodni verifikatori Kosovo i Metohiju.
Bombardovanje SRJ počelo je u ranim jutarnjim satima, 24. marta 1999. godine, prve bomve NATO krvavih bombardera pale su na Zetu i na danilovgradsku kasarnu, kada je poginuo vojnik Saša Stajić, koji je prva žrtva bezumnih napada NATO alijanse koji su trajali 79 dana.
