Posada kineske svemirske letjelice "šenžou-19" uspješno je izvršila niz eksperimenata sa vještačkom fotosintezom i uspjela je da u svemirskoj stanici "Tjangun" prvi put u istoriji proizvede kiseonik i komponente za raketno gorivo, javio je list Saut Čajna morning post.
Astronauti su tokom 12 eksperimenata uspjeli da proizvedu kiseonik i etilen.
List podsjeća da su na Međunarodnoj svemirskoj stanici već vršeni eksperimenti povezani sa fotosintezom, ali su se astronauti u njima bavili uzgajanjem biljaka i proučavanjem uticaja mikrogravitacije na prirodnu fotosintezu.
Stanica se, navodno, oslanjala na elektrolizu, koja koristi električnu energiju sa solarnih panela stanice za razdvajanje vode na vodonik i kiseonik.
